This program was inspired by Paul Haas's talkrcx.txt written in Perl. I have never learnt Perl, preferring Basic, and have no Perl reference books, so the conversion was not a direct translation. I used information gathered from Kekoa Proudfoot's RCX Internals and Russell Nelson's Lego Mindstorms Internals and other places including usenet.
If you view the program text you can then save the file as (say) talkrcx.bas and run it under QBasic. You will need to edit the line which chooses the serial port if you don't want to use COM1. Or if you compile it to an EXE file you can use a command line argument to choose the port.
