The Millennium in the Shirenewton Area

Shirenewton Year 2000 Logo

A meeting of interested villagers was held on 6 October 1998 to discuss what might be done locally to celebrate and mark the arrival of a new Millennium. The minutes are available here.

The minutes of the meeting held on 6 April 1999 are also available.

(This page is to do with the celebratory aspects of the millennium - information about the millennium bug can be found elsewhere.)

The Millennium will be celebrated for a whole year, starting with Shirenewton Church Fete 1999, and ending with the Fete in the Year 2000. It is proposed that the theme for the 1999 fete will be "Life in 1900" and we hope stall-holders and visitors as well will come in costume. The theme for Fete 2000 will be "The Future".
